Swan Hill Little Athletics Centre is proud to be part of the little athletics community, focussing on athletes’ skills development, enjoyment and improving personal bests.

We aim to be an inclusive club, catering to athletes of all backgrounds and skill levels, from ages 5 to 15.

We offer a weekly Friday night Track and Field competition over the summer months, and a series of Sunday morning cross country events in the winter months.

Our centre has been operating in Swan Hill since 1968. We were the 25th Centre to register with what wasw then known as the Victorian Little Athletics Association, which is the reason our uniforms display the number 25.

Part of something bigger

There are almost 100 Little Athletics Centres in Victoria, which operate under Little Athletics Victoria.

The centres are grouped into seven regions. Swan Hill Little Athletics Centre is part of the Western Country Region, which also includes centres like Ararat, Ballarat, Buninyong, Camperdown, Casterton, Cohuna, Horsham, Kerang, Lake Bolac and District, Maryborough, Portland, Stawell and Warrnambool.

Swan Hill little athletes can participate in Western Country Region and State level competitions through Little Athletics Victoria, as well as Open Days and Carnivals at centres around Victoria.

Getting involved - athletes

We welcome new athletes to join us at Swan Hill Little Athletics Centre.

New athletes can take part in two trial weeks of competition, and can register as a trial athlete on the Little Athletics Victoria website.

All full member registrations and payments must also be made via the Little Athletics Victoria (LAVic) website.

https://lavic.com.au/membership/

Registration allows little athletes to compete in both summer and winter competitions in Swan Hill as well as other centre open days and regional events through LAVic.

Getting involved – parents and carers

Unlike other sports, athletics competitions require many helpers to ensure the events run smoothly. Little Athletics needs the assistance of parents and family members to operate.

All parents and carers will be rostered on during the Track and Field Season to assist with simple things like measuring, recording and raking sand in the jumping pit.

There are other ways parents and family members can be involved to help run our club too – like helping to set up and pack up equipment, run a barbecue, maybe even undertake coaching or officiating training to get a better understanding of athletics.
